What our licensed pilots shoot, and what it costs

Every job is flown by an experienced, FAA-licensed and insured pilot. Every package includes the airspace check and a private download link, and we confirm the final price with you before the shoot date. Prices include professional editing. Want the raw files straight from the drone instead? Skip editing when you book and save about 10%. No travel fees, anywhere, and every job has our 30-day money-back guarantee.

Portfolio

From the air

Real shots from Apex pilots, flown with all kinds of drones and cameras. Homes, local businesses, storm jobs and more, around Ormond Beach and wherever our pilots fly. Some of the business photos are samples we shot on our own to show what we can do. Storm photos never show people or addresses. Customer shots go up here only when the customer says it's OK. New ones rotate in as we fly. Tap any photo to see it full size.

Video from the drone

Short clips straight from recent flights: storm jobs, the river and the coast. Every package with video gets smooth, stable 4K footage like this.

Storm response: oak down between two homes

What our editing does

Same photo, straight off the drone on the left and after our edit on the right. Drag the slider. We fix the color and light so it looks like it did in person. No fake skies unless you ask, and no filters. Editing is included with every package. Want the raw files instead? Skip it when you book and save about 10%. Roof, storm, inspection, thermal, solar and mapping files are the exception: they're records, so they stay exactly as captured.

Why hire a pro

Your cousin's drone could cost you more than you think.

Anybody can buy a drone. Flying one for a business, a listing or a paying customer is a different deal, and when something goes wrong the person who hired them can end up dealing with it too.

$75,000FAA fines, per violation

The FAA can fine drone operators up to $75,000 per violation for flying unsafely or without permission. In its 2025 enforcement sweep, fines ran from about $1,800 to over $36,000.

107A license is required for paid work

Any drone flight for a business or for pay needs an FAA Part 107 certificate. The FAA can fine pilots who fly without one, and the people who hired them can get dragged into the investigation.

$0What "no insurance" covers

If an uninsured drone hits a car, a roof or a person, there's no policy to pay for it. The person who hired the pilot can end up in the lawsuit, and their own insurance may not cover it. Every Apex pilot carries their own liability insurance.

ConsentPrivacy laws are real

Many states, Florida among them, have laws that limit using a drone to photograph private property or people without permission. Breaking them can mean a lawsuit or worse. So every booking confirms the owner's permission before we fly, in every state.

LAANCAirspace is tricky

Lots of homes and businesses sit near an airport, a stadium or a temporary flight restriction, where flying without FAA permission is illegal. A pro gets authorization before takeoff. A hobbyist usually doesn't know to.

CheckedBackground checked

Every pilot who flies for Apex passes a background check and an ID check before they show up at your property. You know who's on your property.

Hiring anybody with a drone? Ask these 4 things first:
  1. Can I see your FAA Part 107 certificate?
  2. Can you send me your certificate of insurance?
  3. Will you get airspace authorization if it's needed?
  4. Do you have the owner's OK to photograph the property?

Why we started Apex UAV

Built by a pilot who loves this.

Apex UAV was started by Jonnie Hoy, an FAA Part 107 pilot who has always loved being outside. Beach, boat, bike, doesn't matter. Once he got a drone up over Ormond Beach for the first time, he was hooked: dolphins, sunsets, even a rocket launch off the coast.

We started Apex UAV so pilots, photographers and videographers have a fair place to work. No subscriptions or sign-up fees for pilots or customers. Pilots keep 86 to 90 percent of every job, and Apex keeps a small share to keep things running. We also help new pilots get their FAA license.

For customers, we wanted booking a drone pilot to be simple. You see the price up front, you know exactly what you're getting, and every pilot is licensed and insured. We hold every pilot in the network to the same standard.

Apex UAV is also a proud supporter of Wounded Warrior Project. Our veterans and service members fought for this country and for all of our freedom. The least we can do is lend a hand at home, so every job we fly helps support them.

Gift cards

Give someone their home from the sky.

An aerial photo of someone's home is a gift they'll actually hang on the wall. Pick an amount, and they get an eGift card by email to use toward any shoot.

  • How it works: you pick one of the amounts or type your own, and add a note. The eGift card is emailed to them (or to you, to print and wrap).
  • Using it: they book any package and mention the gift card in the job details. It comes off their total.
  • Good to know: any amount left over stays on the card for next time.

Giving back

Giving back to the people who served.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Weather, airspace, deposits, delivery and more.

What happens if it's windy or raining?

Safety comes first. If weather or wind makes flying unsafe, we move your shoot to the next open date at no charge. Wind is common, especially on the coast, so we watch the forecast the day before and let you know if anything changes.

Can you fly near the airport or the beach?

Often, yes. Many neighborhoods sit in controlled airspace near airports. Your pilot gets FAA authorization (usually through LAANC) before flying in controlled airspace and follows state rules for restricted sites. If a location can't be flown legally, we tell you right away and refund anything you've paid.

How do the deposit and final payment work?

You pay 50% when you book, through Square's secure checkout. Online bookings include a booking fee of 5% (at least $5, at most $25), shown before you pay. When your files are ready, you get a preview plus a Square invoice for the remaining balance. You pay online by credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. If Jonnie, the owner, flies your shoot himself, you can also pay him cash in person. No checks, payment apps or trades, and network pilots never take payment. Your full files are released once it's paid.

How fast will I get my photos?

Photos usually arrive within 24 hours, never more than 48. Most videos and 360° tours take 2 to 3 business days, and every package shows its delivery time before you book. Need a rush? Mention it in your job details.

Do you fly over people or neighbors' homes?

We follow FAA Part 107 and state privacy laws. We don't hover over crowds or record neighbors' private spaces, and we plan flight paths to stay focused on your property.

Do you charge for travel?

No. There are no travel fees, anywhere in the United States. Your price is the same wherever you are.

What if I'm not happy with my photos or video?

Every job comes with our 30-day money-back guarantee. Tell us what's wrong within 30 days of delivery and we'll fix it or reshoot it for free. If that still doesn't make it right, we refund what you paid.

Is your roof work a home inspection?

No. We capture detailed aerial photos and video of roofs and properties for owners, roofers, contractors and insurance adjusters. We're not licensed home or roof inspectors and don't give opinions on condition. For that, hire a licensed home inspector or roofing contractor, who can use our photos.

Do you shoot wakeboarding, drifting or stunt shows?

Yes, that's some of our favorite stuff to fly. Wakeboarding, drift cars, motorcycle drifting, stunt shows and car meets. We keep the drone off to the side and never fly over the crowd, so it stays safe and legal. For events at a track or venue, we'll check with the organizer about permission first.

Do you offer a military or first responder discount?

Yes. Veterans and active military get 15% off. Police, fire, EMS and 911 dispatchers get 10% off. Pick it when you book and bring your ID or DD-214 to the shoot. It doesn't combine with other discounts; you get whichever is biggest.

Is there a birthday discount?

Yes. Add your birthday when you create your free account, and every year you get 10% off one shoot booked during your birthday month. It works on any package or custom quote. It starts 30 days after you add it and doesn't combine with other discounts. You get whichever is biggest. You can add or fix your birthday only in the first 30 days of your account. After that, call or text us to change it. Details

What are the FAA drone rules?

Commercial drone flights follow the FAA's Part 107 rules: up to 400 feet, the pilot keeps the drone in sight, approval near airports, and limits over crowds and moving cars. Here's the plain-English version of what's possible for your shoot.

Can I book a custom or adventure shoot?

Yes. Boat days, beach proposals, fishing trips, motorcycle rides, family reunions, you name it. Choose "Adventures & Custom," describe the idea, and we'll send a quote and deposit link.
